Martin Kutnowski is a contemporary composer with firm roots in the tonal idiom. In his works, references to the musical past are often embedded within folk materials of his native country, Argentina. His pieces, ranging from solo instrument to orchestra, have been performed or broadcast in thirty-four countries in the five continents. Disks and scores with his music are available on the independent label Contrapunctus.

He lives in Fredericton, New Brunswick and teaches at Saint Thomas University. Before, he lived in New York City for ten years, teaching and studying at The City University of New York. He also taught for several years at the Aspen Music Festival and School in Colorado and at Conservatorio Municipal de Musica of Buenos Aires. Mr. Kutnowski has been granted scholarships and prizes by the National Endowment for the Arts of Argentina, the Argentine Board of Education, the Fulbright Commission, the Archibald Mourier Foundation, the New Music Jewish Commission of Los Angeles, ASCAP, and North/South Consonance.
